Ignite

Ignite invites you to ask WHAT IF....
What if people were actually excited about church?
What if the church left the building?
What if the church existed for the sake of the world and not just its members?
What if churches started working together
instead of seeing each other as competition?
What if everyone was in 'the ministry'?
What if the church really is the hands and feet of Christ in the world?
What if we stopped just going to church and started BEING the church?
UPDATES:
Breaking News!
Beginning in September of 2010, Ignite will no longer be holding a WEEKLY Saturday worship service. I encourage you to try the new Momentum Service which will be offered at 7pm on Sunday evenings.
We still plan to keep the central elements of Ignite- small group Bible study, fun events, service projects and church visits--but they will now happen in small groups or as a family and will follow our WEEKLY discipleship plan. (see below for more information on the plan)
Please join us in praying for God's will to be done in Ignite
TAVERN TALK
Join Ignite Fellowship for a new weekly ministry called "Tavern Talk" at Shawn's Irish Tavern in Waterville. We plan to meet every Thursday at 8:30pm for a cold beverage and good conversation about God. This is one of our efforts to stop expecting people to come to church and start bringing the church to the people. We hope Tavern Talk helps us build relationships with young adults and others not attending church. Drop by when you are able and bring a friend.
WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP PLAN FOR IGNITE
Our weekly discipleship plan is designed to help us take personal responsibility for growing in faith by seeking to live out our faith 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You'll notice that all of these activities/ideas can be done on your own or in partnership with others. This is not meant to be a list of burdens or church activities that fill up all your free time, but an intentional way to live out your faith, emphasizing different areas of discipleship each day. The key idea to grasp is that faith is not just one component of life, reserved for one hour a week. Instead, faith involves everything we do, every second of our lives. I pray this weekly plan can help you find specific ways to BE the church as you love God, love your neighbors, grow in faith and follow Jesus. So give it a try-- I double dog dare you! - Pastor Dan
Make a Difference Monday- Value: B2BAB (Blessed to be a Blessing, Genesis 12:1-3). God has blessed us so that we can bless others. Look for simple ways to bless people and make a difference in their lives today (a phone call, a smile, a prayer, paying someone's bill, etc.)
Tuesdays with Jesus- Value: Dependence (Galatians 2:20) We seek to become increasingly dependent upon Jesus so that it is no longer we who live, but Christ lives in us.
Set aside time today to be with Jesus in prayer, meditation and Bible Study. If you are able, join us for a small group Bible study at Zion @ 10:00am.
Workout Wednesday- Value: Whole Body Health- (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) We value personal responsibility for staying fit physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Stop by Chowders from 9-11am to talk with Pastor Dan, come to our 2:30 pm prayer and worship service, our LIFE classes in the evening and/or find your own ways to work on strengthening your body, mind and spirit.
Theology Thursday- Value: Wisdom- (Proverbs 24:3-4) We believe in curiosity, honesty, asking questions and using the mind God gave us to grow in wisdom and understanding.
Join us for Tavern Talk at Shawn's Irish Tavern @ 8:30pm or get together with friends/ family and ask deep questions about God, faith and life, seeking wisdom, humility and understanding. (You don't have to check your brain at the door to be a Christian!)
Fun Friday- Value: Relationships, Fun- (John 10:10) God created us for relationship. He also invented fun. Put the two together and you're in for a great night. So go out and enjoy life!
Use Fridays to have fun and build relationships with others- especially those who do not know Christ. Remember, faith is caught, not taught; it develops through relationships.
Service Saturday- Value: Worship Service- (Romans 12:1) We seek to worship God with our whole lives, especially by using the gifts he has given us to serve others.
Attend a weekend worship service and/ or worship God through service to others.
Sabbath Sunday- Value: Rest, Strengthening Families- (Exodus 20:8-12) God commands us to honor the Sabbath day and to honor our family members. We desperately need a break, but rarely take one. We desperately need family time, but rarely get it. Therefore...
Commit to doing as little work as possible and use this day to rest, relax, worship God, renew your soul, and spend quality time together with family...and see what happens.
Hi! My name is Pastor Dan Bredberg and I would like to invite you to learn more about Ignite Fellowship, a new ministry of Zion Lutheran Church. The mission of Ignite is to invite unchurched/ unconnected people into an authentic community of Christ-followers, ignite their faith, and send them out to light up the world by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ through their words and actions. Ignite is a unique ministry that is designed to help people walk their talk and live out their faith. This ministry is made to help us BE the church and not just GO to church, by providing a variety of ways we can worship God and fulfill the mission God has given to us. IGNITE does not meet in a set location each week. Instead we encourage people to set up their own time to meet as a small group or house church. Please call Pastor Dan at 419-878-0266 if you are interested in participating in a house church. You can find details for our meetings and activities as well as any directions that are needed by clicking on "ignite" in Zion's event calendar.

The long term vision of Ignite is to be a network of mission communities transforming the greater Toledo area through a united “Kingdom” ministry. We are seeking to grow the kingdom of God , not just one church. We are committed to working together with other churches to help the world see an example of Christian unity as we come together to BE the church, the body of Christ.
An initial core group was formed in the summer of 2008 to mark the beginning of Ignite. We hope to add to our core group people from a variety of age groups, churches, and communities with a common heart for outreach and mission. People who are interested in ignite that are connected to a church are welcome to continue worshipping at their current churches, as this ministry will be in the evening and will not ‘compete’ with Sunday morning church services. The core group will focus on building up this new outreach ministry and developing leaders who will be sent out to expand the ministry. We hope that people from a variety of churches can join Ignite so that they can be trained as small group leaders/facilitators and then be sent back to their home churches to form additional mission communities. These mission communities could spread out across the Toledo area, forming a united city church. Once a month, all of the mission communities will come together for large group worship, prayer and fellowship followed by a community meal. Here is another diagram for our visual learners:
“IF” you or someone you know has questions about Ignite or may want to join us, give me a call at 419-878-0266 or send me an email at pastordan@zionwaterville.com.
May the peace, hope and joy of the Lord be with you!
just for fun...sorry if these things annoy you, but I think they are a good way to think about our need to see things differently--especially the limited way we tend to see the church...
